THE REMEDIES
Homeopathic remedies can be carried by sucrose pills, small granules, hard or soft lactose tablets, or in liquid, usually in water and 23/25% or 10% alcohol. It is also possible to have remedies made in water, if there is a need - all pills, tablets or alcohol mixes, however, can be diluted further in a glass of water.
Remedies have a name (e.g. ‘Apis’) and a ‘potency’ (e.g. 6x/dh, 30c/ch, 1M). The potency indicates the number of times the remedy has been diluted and ‘succussed’ in the pharmacy.
Even at the lowest stages, there is practically nothing left of the original substance from which the remedy is made. The more this is diluted and succussed, however, the higher the potency. This is to do with the way water replicates the structure of the original substance.
Remedies are classically derived from the plant, animal and mineral kingdoms. The original group of remedies that are studied in classical homeopathy have slowly grown to thousands - as more and more have been explored and tried out by practitioners and groups of researchers.
